Indonesia: A Place where People Personal Life is The Subject of The Clashing Interests

The long title? Sorry, can't help.

So basically the headline today in Indonesia is about LGBT. For so long, this community tends to remain silent, living their own happy whatever life in the shadow, and the government seems to turn on the blind eye on them. Alhough there are several form of underground resistance, such as indie filmmaker who dare to touch the subjects (and they really do), but i think that they prefer to keep to themselves. They knew that as a nation who based it's foundation on religion, Indonesia is not a place to loudly express their opinion. And i respect them for keeping to themselves.

But that's about to change.

Thank you social media
The controversy started when Facebook, Line, etc thought that it was a smart move to show the world that they are open to diversity. They then bring the emoji, sticker, etc expressing their support to LGBT. They failed to understand that there are several things that should be better left alone in Indonesia. Such as alcohol, and LGBT. For god sake, the first principle of Pancasila clearly stated:

"Ketuhanan Yang Maha Esa"

Which clearly emphasized the importance of belief and religion to the people, where the majority is Islam, and homosexuality in Islam is equal to being stoned to death. So i literally have no idea, why they'd think that it's okay to bring the seeds of controversy to Indonesia.

Thank you Starbucks
The CEO just stated his personal support on LGBT. Then it become corporate support, then it become national support, then it hit Indonesia hard. And boy, it hit Indonesia real hard after every national media there hungrily perpetuating LGBT issue since the social media incident. I am hundred percent supporting their campaign on public breastfeeding issue, but i have zero percent support on this case. Whatever it is, i rarely going to Starbucks anyway. And people avoiding Starbucks, is good for local business.

What i want to state through this post is: People personal life, such as sexual activity, preference, is not anybody goddamn business. Please keep them to yourself and keep yours from anybody else. Because like it or not, same sex marriage could never have place in Indonesia. I'm not a hater. Just expressing the truth though it might seems bitter. And for the best of this country, let's just stop the wildfire. Let's stop arguing.
